This week sees the launch of the first Alsace menu at Le Garrick, featuring regional dishes and wines. The menu will include a Smoked herring and warm potato salad (£7), followed by Choucroute garnie d’Alsace (£16) or Sauerkraut – a white cabbage cooked in wine or vinegar and accompanied by local sausages, pork and potatoes. Dessert will be a Blackberry and crème fraîche tart (£7)
Pair this with one of the better known Alsace wines, Gewurtztraminer boasting many complex aromatics including Ruby Red grapefruit, rose petal, ginger and a smoky aroma similar to burnt incense, or a Reisling. Alternatively, if you’d prefer there will be an Alsace beer (£4.50).
